Blue Gold

No.1 firm in making seawater into fresh water Doosan Heavy Industry is turning its eye on water and wastewater treatment and water reuse business. While business in making seawater into fresh water is only concentrate in the Middle East, it is estimated that water and wastewater treatment and water reuse business will bring a lot of benefit to the firm due to its widespread around the world. Doosan Heavy Industry last year built a large plant that makes seawater into freshwater in Saudi Arabia and secured its place as the No.1 industry in the field.
Park Yoon Sik, director of Doosan Heavy Industry, said that the firm is planning to be the best firm in the Water industry by going into different fields in water industry.
I am very excited about the fact that a Korean firm has positioned itself at the top in the industry of water, which is currently called as blue gold. Water industry is surely becoming a lucrative business to do, but I worry that many global water industry firms are being backed up by their own governments to invest in the business, but many Korean firms are not turning their eyes into this part of the industry. The government and each provisional government are doing tap-water business so normal firms have no way to penetrate. It is essential for the Korean government to watch closely to Europe that has allowed many personally owned firms to take part in the industry and, thus, gain much knowledge and technology. We have to be aware of the risk of our Korean firms’ lack of experience and the shortage of water. Thus, a quick solution is needed.
